Maya is a socially engaged theatre maker, director, and facilitator from Cumbria, specialising in inclusive practice and touring work. From facilitating multi-sensory workshops in specialist schools to directing national touring productions, Maya has extensive experience working across community, educational and professional theatre settings. She is passionate about integrating inclusivity and accessibility creatively into all projects and productions.
Maya trained in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with First Class Honours. She is currently Volunteer and Training Manager at Angel Shed, an inclusive arts charity in North London. Within her role, she leads their award-winning volunteer programme, training over 90 volunteers annually in inclusive facilitation, delivers Inclusivity Training to organisations and charities across the UK with previous clients including Roundhouse, Little Angel Theatre and Pauline Quirke Academy and provides Inclusivity Consultancy to a range of organisations advising on best practice of inclusivity and accessibility. Maya is also Associate Director at Haringey Shed.
Maya is Artistic Director of Close to Home Productions who are Associate Artists of Culture Warrington and Supported Artists with ThickSkin. Their 5* debut production Identities, toured nationally as well as a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe. She has raised over £108,000 in Arts Council Funding with the company.
Maya is delighted to be joining the board of trustees and is excited to use her experience and passion for accessible theatre across educational and touring work to support the exciting future plans of Concrete Youth!
