Concrete Youth is proud to announce that it has officially become a PiPA (Parents and Carers in Performing Arts) Charter Partner, striving towards creating a more family friendly working environment.

PiPA campaigns to enable and empower parents, carers and employers to achieve sustainable change in attitudes and practices in order to attract, support, and retain a more diverse and flexible workforce. The charity supports performing arts organisations to trial and embed strategies that allow people to balance their caring responsibilities with their working lives, for example through job shares or flexible working arrangements.

This partnership builds on Concrete Youth’s mission to create high-quality cultural opportunities that are inclusive and accessible to all — including those with caring responsibilities. By joining the PiPA Charter Programme, Concrete Youth aligns itself with a growing movement across the UK to implement flexible, sustainable working models in the arts sector.

Becoming a PiPA Charter Partner also supports Concrete Youth’s wider, ongoing organisational goal of ensuring that all staff and freelancers work in a culture that prioritises wellbeing, respect, and care. This includes fostering a safe and supportive working environment where everyone — regardless of their personal circumstances — feels empowered, valued, and able to thrive creatively.

Daniel Swift, Chief Executive & Artistic Director of Concrete Youth, said:
"We’re delighted to become a PiPA Charter Partner as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the artists we work with who are also parents and carers. Too often, the industry overlooks the realities of balancing creative work with caring responsibilities. This partnership helps us create more flexible, understanding and accessible opportunities — ensuring those with lived experience of care are not only included, but actively supported. We’re deeply committed to creating a kind, supportive and comfortable working environment for both our staff and freelance artists, and this is another step in our journey to build the best working culture that we can."

Chair of the Board, Rajwant Kaur Singh, added:
"We’re thrilled to become a PiPA Charter Partner, reaffirming our commitment to a more inclusive, flexible, and supportive future for everyone, including parents and carers we work with in the performing arts."

Anna Ehnold-Danailov Co-CEO & Creative Director says:

“We are excited to welcome Concrete Youth as a Charter Partner. Their innovative, research-led approach and strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity make them a truly inspiring addition to our network. We’re excited to collaborate with such a dynamic company and look forward to sharing knowledge, ideas, and insights together with their team.”

As a PiPA Charter Partner, Concrete Youth will continue to develop and implement practices that make creative careers more accessible for parents and carers — recognising that greater flexibility and understanding benefits not only individuals, but the entire industry.
